The Scenery

This was a great trip for me for many reasons. Not only was it a much needed break from the 90 day rain streak we were having in Seattle, it was also my first trip back to the Southwestern desert in over ten years. We woke up the first day to perfect blue sky weather that stayed with us for the entire trip.
The scenery in the park was fantastic with thousands of bizarre almost human shaped Joshua Trees set amongst piles and piles of huge boulders, a photographer's as well as a rock climber's dream. Since I am both of those, I was in heaven.

We spent the first night at camp Ryan right next to Headstone rock. These photographs were taken as the first light of morning fell on the Headstone.
To give you an idea of the scale of the rocks in these images, here is a photo that Tim took of me standing on the top of the Headstone.
